Privacy Policy for DrivingTracker

Thank you for using DrivingTracker ("the App"), developed by DrivingTracker Inc.. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the core functionality of tracking your drives, the App collects the following information only when you explicitly start a recording session:

• Precise Location Data: Latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, heading (direction of travel), and the accuracy of the location data, along with timestamps for each data point. This data is collected via your device's GPS and other location services.
• Background Location Data: To ensure your entire trip is recorded accurately even when the App is minimized, the screen is off, or the App is closed during a recording session, we collect location data in the background. This requires your explicit permission ("Allow all the time" access). If background permission is not granted, recording may stop or be incomplete if the App is not in the foreground.
• Sensor Data: Barometric pressure readings from your device's sensor may be collected during recording sessions to supplement trip data (e.g., altitude information) if the device supports it.
• Timestamps: The start and end times of each recording session.

We also collect the following information to improve the App and troubleshoot issues:

• Usage Analytics: We collect anonymized information about how you interact with the App, such as when you start/stop recordings, interact with permission dialogs, or access certain features. This helps us understand usage patterns and improve the user experience. We use AptaBase and TelemetryDeck for this purpose.
• Error and Crash Reports: If the App encounters an error or crashes, we collect diagnostic information to help us identify and fix the problem. This may include device information (such as model, OS version, app version), crash traces, and the state of the App at the time of the error. We use TelemetryDeck for this purpose.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To Provide Core Functionality: Location data, sensor data, and timestamps are used to record your driving trips, calculate statistics (like distance, duration, speed), and display your route and data within the App.
• To Ensure Complete Recordings: Background location access allows the App to continue recording your trip accurately when not actively in use.
• To Display Recording Status: Notification permission (on applicable Android versions) is used solely to display a persistent notification while a recording session is active, which is a system requirement for background location access via foreground services.
• To Improve the App: Usage analytics help us understand how the App is used, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions about future development.
• To Maintain and Troubleshoot the App: Error and crash reports are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs, ensuring the App remains stable and reliable.

3. Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage: All your recorded drive data (location points, timestamps, sensor readings, calculated statistics) is stored exclusively on your device's local storage within the App's private directory.
• No Cloud Backup: This data is not automatically uploaded, backed up, or synchronized to any external cloud servers by the App. If you uninstall the App or clear its data through system settings, this locally stored trip data will be permanently deleted.
• Security: We take reasonable measures to protect the information stored within the App, but please be aware that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data in the following limited circumstances:

• With Service Providers: We share anonymized usage analytics and diagnostic/crash report data with third-party service providers (AptaBase and TelemetryDeck) solely for the purposes of app improvement and troubleshooting as described above. These providers have their own privacy policies governing their use of data. However, the data is anonymized and aggregated, and we do not share any personal information.
• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or property, or ensure the safety of our users.

Your recorded trip data (location, etc.) stored locally is not shared with any third parties by the App unless you explicitly export or share it yourself using external mechanisms.

5. Your Choices and Controls

• Recording Control: You have full control over when data collection occurs by manually starting and stopping recording sessions within the App.
• Permissions: You can grant, deny, or revoke location and notification permissions at any time through your device's system settings menu for the App. Denying necessary permissions will limit the App's functionality (e.g., inability to record trips).
• Data Deletion: You can delete individual recorded trips directly within the App. You can also delete all locally stored App data, including all trips and settings, by clearing the App's data via your device's system settings.

5.1. Data Retention

• Trip Data: Your recorded trip data is stored locally on your device and remains there until you manually delete individual trips or clear the App's data.
• Analytics & Crash Data: Anonymized analytics and crash report data shared with AptaBase and TelemetryDeck are subject to their respective data retention policies.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16, depending on your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or through other appropriate means. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
